6 Days Samburu, Lake Nakuru & Maasai Mara Safari

Your safari begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi heading north towards Samburu National Reserve. The journey takes you through scenic highlands, rural towns, and changing landscapes as you approach the semi-arid region of northern Kenya.

Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or tented camp. After a short rest, enjoy an afternoon game drive in Samburu, known for its unique wildlife species and rugged beauty.

Spend the day exploring Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives.

Samburu is home to rare species often referred to as the “Samburu Special Five” including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx. You may also spot lions, elephants, leopards, and other wildlife along the Ewaso Nyiro River.

The reserve offers a more remote and less crowded safari experience compared to southern parks.

After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive south towards Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley.

Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in the park, which is famous for its flamingos and rich birdlife.

Lake Nakuru is also one of the best places in Kenya to see both black and white rhinos, making it an important conservation area.

After breakfast, depart Lake Nakuru and travel towards the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive in the Maasai Mara, known for its incredible wildlife density and scenic plains.

Spend the day exploring the Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives.

The reserve offers excellent opportunities to see the Big Five as well as cheetahs, hyenas, giraffes, and large herds of herbivores.

Between July and October, the Mara hosts the spectacular Great Migration when millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the plains in search of fresh grazing.

Optional activities include a Maasai village visit or a hot air balloon safari.

After breakfast, check out from your lodge and begin the drive back to Nairobi.

Enjoy the scenic journey through the Great Rift Valley before arriving in Nairobi in the afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport for your onward journey.
